Mrs Tara Young is an 87 year old lady who is scheduled for a barium enema in a few days to investigate a potential obstruction in her large bowels. She was supposed to have a colonoscopy but refused the investigation because she didn't think she could handle the stress of the procedure. She was told that the barium enema is an alternative investigation that is non-invasive. She's come in today as she has more questions regarding the procedure. Please explain the procedure to her and answer her questions.
